Overview

The 1,000 Books before Kindergarten literacy program encourages parents to read one-thousand books to their child before they enter kindergarten. Reading together helps develop important pre-literacy skills that provide a solid reading foundation. Reading is key to school and learning success. Plus, sharing stories together is fun!

Read to your child every day

From magazine and newspaper articles to books in preschool or library story time, all reading counts. Duplicate books count too.

Track what you read

While all 1,000 Books before Kindergarten materials (including book lists) are freely available from 1000booksbeforekindergarten.org, tracking 1,000 books is easier through our Beanstack application.

Celebrate landmarks

Every 100 books, parents are encouraged to post a photo of their child on social media with the hashtag #1000BooksB4K.

Hobe Sound Grant Funded Incentives
