I don't have a mobile device. Can I still check out and read eBooks?

Yes! You can use your internet browser, such as latest versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, and Internet Explorer, on a desktop computer or laptop to access and check out an eBook or eAudiobook using the Read Now Browser Reader.

To use the Read Now Browser Reader, you do not need to download any software. Your title will open in your browser automatically. But note: you will need to allow pop-ups within your browser, and some browsers will ask you if it’s okay to store files on your computer. You’ll need to allow this if you want your eBook to be saved for offline access.

  1. Go to the Magic Wall website and login using your Library Card ID.
  2. Browse the Magic Wall categories or use the magnifying glass to look for a specific subject or title.
  3. Select Checkout either from your search results or from the title details page.
  4. Select Read Now to open your book in a new tab to begin reading
  5. You might need to enable pop-ups. (Enabling pop-ups might vary by browser.)
  6. Your book will open and you are ready to read! To navigate, use the arrows on either side of the screen or use your forward and back arrows.
  7. Hovering your mouse near the top of the book will bring up the tools menu. Use the tool icons on the right to change font, highlight passages or bookmark locations in the book.
  8. Use the menu on the left to navigate to a specific section or access offline reading functionality.
