About

These grant-funded programs encourage children in select after-school programs to read books featuring black female protagonists. Launched in 2015 by Marley Dias at just 10 years old, the #1000BlackGirlBooks initiative went viral!

Sponsored by The Library Foundation of Martin County, Inc., the Martin County Library System proudly collaborates with youth organizations to facilitate book discussions that include free copies of the featured books, introspective crafts, as well as special guest speakers.
