Reading to dogs can boost reading skills in children as well as help with emotional and social skills. The goal of the program is for participants to gain confidence and increased reading fluency. Martin County Library System has partnered with the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast, Inc. for the Paws to Read program.

Participants read to certified therapy dogs for 30 minutes on Thursday evenings for four (4) weeks in the Exploration Lab upstairs in Children’s World. Sessions are available at 4:45 p.m.- 5:15 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.-6:00 p.m. New participants are selected each month (October-April with a break in December).

Please select Paws to Read on our event calendar to register.
