Selection Committee Meeting for Disaster Debris Monitoring

The Committee will meet for approximately one hour in the Commission Chambers located on the 1st floor of the Martin County Administration Center, located at 2401 SE Monterey Road, Stuart, Florida.

Dance Fitness Fun!

Join Marybeth Peña with Hope Center for Autism for a fun dance fitness program created for toddlers and preschoolers.

Kids will dance, play, and move while learning healthy fitness habits and having fun. Sensory integration and neurodiversity resources will also be available. This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Martin County Library System, Inc.

Stitches of Kindness

Use your creativity and craft to spread kindness around Martin County by knitting or crocheting items to be donated. The current project is making walker-bags and beanie hats for the community.

Affordable Housing Advisory Committee Meeting

Affordable Housing Advisory Committee

The Committee recommends specific actions or initiatives to encourage or facilitate affordable housing while protecting the ability of the property to appreciate. Evaluate the incentives contained in the Martin County local housing incentive plan and make recommendations for its amendment as needed to encourage or facilitate the creation or maintenance of affordable housing. Review the Martin County Local Housing Assistance Plan (SHIP) before its submission for adoption or amendment to the Board of County Commissioners (BCC). Review applications for SHIP funds by community-based organizations or eligible sponsors and provide recommendations for funding of these applications to the BCC. Function as the review committee set forth in the local housing assistance plan to advise and monitor the SHIP program, evaluate requests for exceptions from the regulations in accordance with the procedures set forth in the local housing assistance plan, and to hear appeals from decisions made by the SHIP program administrator.

U.S. Citizenship Class

Recommended for individuals who have submitted their application for naturalization, or who are in the process of doing so. Comfort with the English language is required. Registration required.

Study and practice for the 100 questions of the U.S. Citizenship Test, and what to expect at the interview! This class will help you understand the process of applying to become a naturalized citizen of the U.S. and provides an opportunity to study citizenship test questions in a positive learning environment. We will review the requirements to qualify for citizenship, provide information on what to expect during your interview, and introduce government resources for obtaining application materials.

Overview of Lessons:1. What does it mean to be a U.S. Citizen?  2. What are the rights and responsibilities of citizenship?3. Do I qualify to apply for citizenship?4. What does the application process include?5. Test preparation.

THIS IS NOT AN ENGLISH CLASS. The class is taught in English and participants are expected to be comfortable with English before attending. 

You must take the U.S. Citizenship Test in English unless you meet one of the following requirements:A. You are 50 years of age or older and you have lived in the U.S. as a lawful permanent resident for periods totaling at least 20 years.B. You are 55 years of age or older and you have lived in the U.S. as a lawful permanent resident for periods totaling at least 15 years.C. You are 65 years of age or older and you have lived in the U.S. as a lawful permanent resident for periods totaling at least 20 years.

If you meet one of these requirements, you may be eligible to take the civics portion of the U.S. Citizenship Test in your native language. For more information on exemptions and accommodations, please visit the USCIS exemptions and accommodations site.

According to Every Child Ready to Read @ Your Library, singing, talking, and playing are also important for developing early literacy skills. This interactive event may use bubbles, scarves, hand-held instruments or shaker eggs, loud music, and more. All adults are encouraged to participate with their children in this fun early literacy activity. Families are welcome!

Hobe Sound Neighborhood Advisory Committee Meeting

Each Neighborhood Advisory Committee (NAC) shall assist in the preparation of the required community redevelopment plan for its designated community redevelopment area. The Committee shall follow the procedures of the adopted small area planning process. The completed Community Redevelopment Plan shall be presented to the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) for review and approval prior to presentation to the Board.  The final Community Redevelopment Plan shall be adopted by the Board. In addition to providing advice and recommendations to the Community Redevelopment Agency on the implementation of an adopted Community Redevelopment Plan, each Committee shall work towards consensus to provide advice and recommendations to the Community Redevelopment Agency, to the extent permitted by the development review process, grant deadlines, or other similar time constraints, regarding the following: Proposed amendments and modifications to a Community Redevelopment Plan, Development applications within its Community Redevelopment Area that are classified as major applications under the provisions of the Martin County Land Development Regulations, the prioritization of community redevelopment capital projects, any other matters as directed by the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) or the Agency.

Family Tree Yoga with Kim

Family-friendly yoga with Kim

Join Kim Moir from Two Rivers Yoga for a child-centric yoga session for all ages! Be prepared for moves with a "moo" or "meow."

Please bring a mat or towel for each participant. Children need to be accompanied by an adult to participate. All levels of yoga experience are welcome. Doors will open 15 minutes early to allow time for signing in and setting up.
