Special Event Permits

Martin County Parks and Recreation requires activities held within unincorporated Martin County that are open to the public (whether it is held in a County Park, County road, or on private property) to have a special event permit. Examples of Special Events that require a complete special event permit application include but are not limited to:

  • Block Party
  • Carnival
  • Charity/Fundraiser
  • Church Service
  • Concert
  • Craft Show
  • Cycling Race
  • Easter Egg Hunt
  • Exhibition, Display, Performance
  • Fair
  • Festival
  • Fishing Tournament
  • Grand Opening
  • Large Athletic/Sporting Event
  • Memorial Service
  • Movie on the lawn
  • Parade
  • Rally
  • Regatta
  • Rodeo
  • Running Race (5K, 10K, Marathon, Cross Country Meet, Challenge Run, etc.)
  • Skateboarding Event/Competition
  • Surf Competition
  • Triathlon

*Any other activity creating abnormally large crowds or traffic and has a detrimental effect of the public health, safety and welfare.


Event organizers may complete the Special Event "Permit Application" below, which is a fillable PDF, and then save on your desktop. Next, use the Request for Help or Information button  to attach the completed application, which will be routed to the appropriate staff for followup. Upon receipt of the special event request, a staff member will contact the organizer and review the special event permit process, as well as, additional items that may be required to completed depending upon the size and scope of the event. Permitting fees will also be discussed at that time.
