Event Safety Inspections

Martin County Fire Prevention oversees fire and life safety regulations for temporary events such as carnivals, fairs, and festivals. A “special event” is defined as a temporary gathering of fifty (50) or more participants that may include one or more of the following:

  • Exclusive use of public facilities such as buildings, parks, streets, parking lots, or athletic fields.
  • Use of private property where temporary structures (stages, grandstands, tents, canopies) and/or activity participation areas are utilized by the public.
  • Closing of a public street or private right-of-way.
  • Temporary installation of equipment and/or buildings.

All event applications must include a site map showing tents, canopies, temporary structures, stages, grandstands, medical treatment areas, evacuation or relocation areas, and fire protection equipment, along with distances to nearby buildings, parking areas, and transportation routes such as roads and driveways. If public or private streets or driveways will be blocked from vehicle access, the map must clearly show street names, roadblock locations, and any affected driveway addresses.
