Cremations and Burial Assistance
Martin County offers limited cremation and burial assistance for individuals or families who have no financial means to arrange for disposition.
Eligibility criteria:
- The deceased must have passed away in Martin County
- There must be no available assets to cover the costs (e.g. insurance policies)
- If an immediate family is applying, they must fall below 150% of the poverty level
- The applicant must be willing to use a funeral home approved by the county

To request cremation and burial assistance, please contact Martin County Human Services Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at (772) 288-5785. A staff member will complete a pre-screening with you by phone to determine eligibility and explain next steps.
