About the Public Works Department

The Public Works Department plans, designs, constructs, operates and maintains infrastructure for transportation, drainage, stormwater quality, beaches, conservation lands, and public works facilities.

The Department also provides public works services for other departments; oversees private development and permitting; and manages real property interests, transit services, and mosquito control services on behalf of the County.

Maintenance of assets focuses on reducing the infrastructure backlog, public safety, the most efficient use of existing facilities, and leveraging technology while striving to meet customer needs at reduced funding levels.
