Rise & Fall of the Florida Pineapple Industry by Josh Liller

Join our favorite local historian for another fascinating lecture of our winter series.

Pineapples were not brought to Florida until the mid-19th century. By 1908, Florida produced as many pineapples as Cuba and Jensen Beach was the self-proclaimed "Pineapple Capital of the World." Two decades later the pineapple industry was all but dead in Florida. Learn about the rise and fall of the agriculture that first put Southeast Florida on the map. This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Martin County Library System, Inc.
