The following are the purposes for which this Corporation has been organized to promote the economic and business welfare in Martin County and the sites therein by increasing employment opportunities; to solicit support and aid of the public in this work; to promote and conduct economic programs designed to retain existing businesses and to strengthen and expand the income potential of businesses within Martin County in accordance with the Economic Element of the Martin County Comprehensive Plan; to engage in activities seeking to bring qualified businesses and industry into Martin County; to develop and carry out activities for the purposes of raising the money to meet the expenses and establish funds and otherwise create and support the purposes of the Corporation and to manage, invest, and disburse such monies in accordance with the non-profit purposes of the Corporation; and the Corporation shall have such corporate powers as are granted in Chapter 617 of the Florida Statutes and all amendments subsequent thereto, together with such other additional powers as shall be reasonably co-existent and appropriate and necessary for the full use and proper management of the Corporation of any of its purposes; provided, however, that this Corporation in exercising anyone or more of its powers, shall do so in furtherance of the exempt purposes for which it has been organized, and as described in the Internal Revenue Code, and provisions herein, which conflict with those purposes and would render the Corporation non-exempt, shall be treated as void and of no effect.

Public Safety Coordinating Council Meeting
Public Safety Coordinating Council
Each board of county commissioners shall establish a County Public Safety Coordinating Council for the county or shall join with a consortium of one or more other counties to establish a Public Safety Coordinating Council for the geographic area represented by the member counties. The Council shall meet at the call of the chairperson for the purpose of assessing the population status of all detention or correctional facilities owned or contracted by the county, or the county consortium, and formulating recommendations to ensure that the capacities of such facilities are not exceeded. Such recommendations shall include an assessment of the availability of pretrial intervention or probation programs, work-release programs, substance abuse programs, gain-time schedules, applicable bail bond schedules, and the confinement status of the inmates housed within each facility owned or contracted by the county, or the county consortium. The Council may also develop a local public safety plan for future construction needs. The plan must cover at least a 5-year period. The plan may be submitted for consideration to the local planning agency for the county, or the planning agency for each county within the consortium, at least 120 days before the adoption of or amendment to the Comprehensive Plan for the county by the Local Planning Agency pursuant to Part II of Chapter 163.

U.S. Citizenship Class
Recommended for individuals who have submitted their application for naturalization, or who are in the process of doing so. Comfort with the English language is required. Registration required.
Study and practice for the 100 questions of the U.S. Citizenship Test, and what to expect at the interview! This class will help you understand the process of applying to become a naturalized citizen of the U.S. and provides an opportunity to study citizenship test questions in a positive learning environment. We will review the requirements to qualify for citizenship, provide information on what to expect during your interview, and introduce government resources for obtaining application materials.
Overview of Lessons:1. What does it mean to be a U.S. Citizen? 2. What are the rights and responsibilities of citizenship?3. Do I qualify to apply for citizenship?4. What does the application process include?5. Test preparation.
THIS IS NOT AN ENGLISH CLASS. The class is taught in English and participants are expected to be comfortable with English before attending.
You must take the U.S. Citizenship Test in English unless you meet one of the following requirements:A. You are 50 years of age or older and you have lived in the U.S. as a lawful permanent resident for periods totaling at least 20 years.B. You are 55 years of age or older and you have lived in the U.S. as a lawful permanent resident for periods totaling at least 15 years.C. You are 65 years of age or older and you have lived in the U.S. as a lawful permanent resident for periods totaling at least 20 years.
If you meet one of these requirements, you may be eligible to take the civics portion of the U.S. Citizenship Test in your native language. For more information on exemptions and accommodations, please visit the USCIS exemptions and accommodations site.

Construction Industry Licensing Board
Pursuant to a request by the Board of County Commissioners, to make its special knowledge and expertise available to any official, department, board, or agency. Examination of contractor's license holders and applicants. Licensing of contractors. Review of violations of chapter by license holders. The Construction Industry Licensing Board (CILB) shall be the Adjustment and Appeals Board pursuant to Sections 21.20 and 21.21, General Ordinances, Martin County Code. The CILB shall be the Local Construction Regulation Board (Section 489.113(4) FS).
