IMPROVEMENTS AT CHARLIE LEIGHTON PARK

Improvements at Charlie Leighton Park are underway. During construction, the park and boat ramps will be closed through summer 2026. The Palm City Community Center, Palm City Chamber of Commerce, restrooms and Treasure Coast Rowing Club will remain open with limited parking.

Major improvements include:

New boat ramp
Expanded car and trailer parking
Additional docks
Picnic areas, green space and gazebo
Enhanced pedestrian access under the bridge
Expansion of the crew/rowing building site

Alternative boat ramps: Sandsprit Park, Jensen Beach Boat Ramp, Stuart Causeway & Jensen Beach Causeway.

PORTER PARK IMPROVEMENT PROJECT

Improvement work at Porter Park will begin on Thursday, August 6, 2026. The project includes replacing the park pavilions and constructing ADA-compliant accessible parking to enhance the park for all visitors.

During construction, intermittent closures of portions of the park may be necessary. Every effort will be made to keep river access open whenever it is safe to do so.

The project is anticipated to be completed during the first week of September, weather and site conditions permitting.

Clearing the Way for Native Habitat at Citrus Grove Park

Martin County’s Environmental Resources Division will begin mechanical removal of invasive vegetation at Citrus Grove Park on August 12, with work expected to continue through August 19.

Crews will use heavy equipment to remove dense invasive vegetation that can crowd out native plants and reduce habitat quality for wildlife.

This restoration work will help:

Reduce competition with native plant communities
Improve habitat diversity
Encourage the natural recovery of native vegetation
Improve cover and foraging opportunities for native wildlife

Removing invasive vegetation is an important part of Martin County’s ongoing efforts to restore and manage natural areas for the long term.

Park Visitor Notice: Heavy equipment and crews will be operating in designated areas during this work. Visitors should use caution near active work zones and follow all posted signage and temporary access restrictions.

PLAYGROUND IMPROVEMENT PROJECT AT LAMAR HOWARD PARK

Exciting improvements are coming to the playground at Lamar Howard Park!

To accommodate the removal and replacement of the existing playground structure, the playground and a portion of the parking area will be closed to the public beginning Monday, June 22, through mid-September.
