Passengers should make every effort to sit or stand at least six feet from any other passenger and the bus operator. Individuals that are sick are asked NOT to board MARTY vehicles.

ADA Paratransit Service

MARTY Access

In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA), Martin County Public Transit offers a paratransit service (MARTY Access) for persons with physical, cognitive, visual or other disabilities which functionally prevent them from using the fixed-route bus system permanently, temporarily or under certain conditions.

How it works

All applicants seeking eligibility for the ADA paratransit service must go through an eligibility determination process. The ADA paratransit eligibility application process includes, but not limited to:

  • A medical verification form completed by a licensed physician describing the conditions which prevent the applicant from using the fixed route and how these conditions prevent the applicant from using the fixed route.
  • A review of the applicant’s own assessment of their ability to use Martin County Public Transit fixed-route buses, and;
  • A functional assessment performed by an Eligibility Contractor.

Applicants must reside in the urbanized ADA service area, within three quarters of a mile of MARTY's fixed route service area, provide proof of Martin County residency and a valid photo ID.

To apply for eligibility for the ADA paratransit service (MARTY Access) please complete the following application and review the following steps to get started.

1. Complete application:

Complete the MARTY Access Services Application. Incomplete forms will not be returned. A licensed physician must complete and sign the medical verification section. Once the application is completed, please submit by fax to (772) 320-3004, or you may mail to:

MARTY Customer Service Center
2401 SE Monterey Road
Transit – 2nd Floor
Stuart, Florida 34996

If you are unable to submit the application via the preferred methods (by fax or by mail), then you may drop off the application to the address above.

2. Application review:

Once the application has been submitted, it will be reviewed for legibility and completeness by MARTY Public Transit personnel.

3. Functional assessment:

If the application meets the necessary requirements, it will be sent to an external eligibility contractor who will contact the applicant and make arrangements for an in-home assessment.

The eligibility contractor will send a letter to the applicant and MARTY to inform of acceptance or denial with an explanation of the determination, as well as information about the appeals process in the event of denial.

Veterans

Rides to the VA Medical Center

Marty provides door to bus stop and reverse commute to/from the VA Medical Center in West Palm Beach, Monday through Friday, for veterans residing in Martin County.

How it works:

Participating veterans will be picked up from their home and taken to the closest 20x bus stop (either the Robert Morgade Library, or US1 and Bridge Road), to board the bus to the VA Medical Center.

Upon return from the VA Medical Center, the veteran will be picked up from the same bus stop and then returned home. If you are a veteran who would like to participate in this program, please complete the following steps.

1. Fill out application:

Each veteran must complete the MARTY Access for Veterans Application, provide a valid photo ID with proof of Martin County residency, and one of the six authorized, government-issued Veterans IDs.

2. Make an appointment:

Once the application has been completed, please call the Mobility Coordinator at (772) 288-5460 to schedule an appointment to come to the Martin County Administration Center at 2401 SE Monterey Road in Stuart, to have a photo made for the MARTY Access for Veteran’s Badge.

Appointments may be scheduled on:

  • Tuesdays and Thursdays between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
  • Wednesdays between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.

3. Schedule a ride:

Once you have received the MARTY Access for Veterans Badge, you may schedule a ride from your home to the nearest Route 20x bus stop; either the Robert Morgade Library, or at US1 and Bridge Road. From each location you may then board the 20x bus which goes south into Palm Beach County to the VA Medical Center.

A reverse commute will also be provided from the originating bus stop to your home as requested when booking the reservation with our Customer Service Center at (772) 463-2822.

Please have the date and time of your VA Medical Center appointment when you call to schedule your ride. Reservations may be made up to seven (7) days in advance but must be made a minimum of one (1) day in advance. No same day reservations will be made.
