Tip Line

Two of the major problems we face when trying to reduce underage drinking in Martin County are:

1. Easy access to alcohol
2. Attitudes that underage alcohol use has a low potential for harm

The 855 21TOBUY (855-218-6289) tip line is provided to help our community combat these attitudes. The line provides a way for concerned citizens to report anyone who buys, sells, or otherwise provides alcohol to those under 21 years of age.

The ultimate purpose of this line is to let our community know that Martin County will not tolerate underage drinking, and we intend to provide means for residents to get involved.

So where are the kids getting the alcohol?

A recent survey by the Florida Youth Substance Abuse Survey (FYSAS) tells us what high school drinkers in Martin County reported:

  • 23.8% had someone just give it to them
  • 18.9% had someone buy it for them
  • 17.5% took it from a family member
  • 8.3% bought it themselves from a store
  • 4.3% bought it at a club or bar
  • 2.0% bought at a public event

And where are they drinking?

  • 37.2% at another person’s home

  • 34.9% their own home

  • 5% restaurant, bar or club

  • 3.4% public place

If you allow underage drinking in your home, you are not only breaking the law, but doing damage to the developing brain of your child and his or her friends. So, we invite you to help use curb underage drinking and make Martin County a healthier, safe place.

Keep this number in your phone and repot those who break the law.
