| Powers and Duties: |
Under the direction of the County's designated arts agency was created pursuant to Ordinance No. 518 adopted June 24, 1997 as a body of individuals appointed by the Board of County Commissioners. The Board shall have the duty and responsibility to generate a Public Art Master Plan as defined in the ordinance for review and approval by the Local Planning Agency and the Board of County Commissioners and to make recommendations on specific public art projects including the selection of works of art, special landscape treatments, and architectural enhancements. |
| How Appointed: |
The Board shall comprise of nine members as follows:
one member shall be an architect or interior designer;
one member shall be a landscape architect or land use planner;
one member shall be a professional in the field of art;
one member shall be an art educator or an art or architectural historian;
one member shall be nominated by the County's designated arts agency; and
the remaining members shall be citizens with knowledge of and appreciation for the visual arts.
The architect or other design professional under contract with Martin County for a specific County project may advise the Public Art Advisory Board during the selection process as it relates to the project but shall not be a voting member of the Board.

| Terms: |
The Board shall be in existence until Ordinance No. 518 is repealed. Terms are three years each. At the time the Board of County Commissioners appoint members of the Board, each member's appointment shall specify the duration of the initial term of such member.

| Meetings: |
Meetings shall be held annually or more often as needed. A majority of the members shall constitute a quorum. |
