January 9, 2019 Medalist Golf Club, Inc. Attn: Chris Dillavou 2401 Vista Parkway, Level 2 West Palm Beach, FL 33411 Project: Preserve Area Management Plan (PAMP) #20060321 Dear Sir or Madam: You are receiving this letter because your property, or a property you manage, contains one of Martin County’s privately–owned dedicated preserve areas. These preserve areas are undeveloped properties containing natural habitats of wetlands, uplands and/or shorelines that were set aside prior to site development. These areas benefit our community by providing ecological stability, improving water quality, preventing flooding and protecting property and environmental resources (as detailed in Martin County’s Comprehensive Plan and Land Development Regulations). Preserve areas are required to remain wholly undeveloped but do require preserve area signage and periodic maintenance to remove diseased plants, debris and invasive plants. Exotic invasive plants such as Brazilian pepper, ear leaf acacia, and lygodium (climbing fern) can outcompete and displace native plants; and it is these native plants that are an essential part of these natural ecosystems. The County’s responsibility is to ensure these areas remain viable and in compliance with the management requirements of the PAMP. This is done by conducting periodic inspections. This letter is to inform you that Environmental Division of the County‘s Growth Management Department will be inspecting the condition of your preserve within the next 6 months. If you would like to schedule a specific inspection time, you can contact me. Additionally, we hope to identify the most well-maintained preserve areas in the county and recognize these areas accordingly. We look forward to working with you and assisting you in maintaining these outstanding resources of Martin County. Sincerely, Lindy Cerar, P.G.
