Oyster Restoration Monitoring Reports

Four aspects of oyster ecology are evaluated during the monitoring of Martin County Oyster Reefs: No. 1) spatial and size distribution patterns of adult oysters (density); No. 2) reproduction (gonadal index); No. 3) spat (larval) recruitment; and No. 4) prevalence and intensity of oyster diseases Perkinsus marinus (“dermo”) and Haplosporidium nelsoni (“MSX”). In addition to monitoring of the oyster health, growth and reproduction, additional research will provide valuable information on the ecology of the restored oyster reefs. View the reports below.
