Beanstack | Library Reading Application

Beanstack provides features that will allow us to extend the youth Summer Reading Program beyond our buildings. This online tool will be available to schools, summer camps, and afterschool facilities. Beanstack will also email book recommendations based on titles entered into Beanstack. Moreover, the online logs cannot be damaged or lost.

Instructions

1,000 Books before Kindergarten: This popular early literacy program aims at encouraging parents to read one-thousand books to their child before they enter kindergarten. While we are offering an incentive to the first families to sign-up, the real prize is an appreciation for books and reading. From magazine and newspaper articles to books in preschool or library story time, all reading counts. Duplicate books count too. While all 1,000 Books before Kindergarten materials are freely available from the 1000booksbeforekindergarten.org website, tracking 1,000 books is easier in Beanstack. Every 100 books, parents are encouraged to post a photo of their child on social media with the hashtag #1000BooksB4K.

Teen Book Reviews: For volunteer service hours and prizes during Summer Reading, teens can enter online book reviews in Beanstack. Other teens in Beanstack can see the reviews. Beanstack will alert staff and teens if a prize was won.

Summer Reading Program: In addition to the paper log to record the number of days read, families can use Beanstack to record the number of days read. Beanstack will alert you if a prize was won.
