Homework Helper Program

Please complete the form via the "Request a Homework Helper Appointment" button and see additional FAQ information below below.

What is the Homework Helper program?

The Homework Helper program is FREE to Martin County library patrons and open to students grades K-12.  Appointments are available for one-on-one tutoring with a dedicated volunteer specializing in subject areas including math, reading, English, history, and science.

Who are the Homework Helpers?

Many of the volunteers are former teachers, engineers, and business professionals who want to make a difference in a child’s academic success.  All volunteers are background checked and appointments can be requested at any of the six (6) library branch locations in the Martin County Library System.

How do I request an appointment?

To request an appointment, please fill out form via the "Request a Homework Helper Appointment" button.

What can I expect?

Once we receive the form, your child will be matched-up with a volunteer depending on need, branch location, and volunteer availability.  Students are required to bring their homework with them to the appointment and parents of children ages 16 and younger are required to stay on the library premises during the appointment. Appointments are typically one (1) hour per week.

Do I need a Martin County library card?

Yes, you will need a library card number to complete the form and access numerous learning websites available through the Martin County Library System.
