Martin County Parks and Recreation is proud to offer a variety of exciting programs just for teens ages 11–18, featuring monthly activities that encourage connection, creativity, and community involvement.

About

Teen Talent and Trends Wednesdays is a FREE monthly program from Martin County Parks and Recreation that invites teens to explore new interests, connect with friends, and engage with their local community.

Held once a month from August through May, each session features a unique activity such as creative arts, sports, or thrilling adventures, hosted at different locations throughout Martin County.

Program Details:

  • Dates: August 13, 2025 – May 13, 2026
  • When: Every 2nd Wednesday of the month
  • Time: 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Location: Varies each month
  • Eligibility: Youth ages 11–18 who live in Martin County or attend a Martin County middle or high school.

Safety and Supervision

All program staff are Level 2 background-screened by the Department of Children and Families and are certified in both CPR and First Aid. This is a teen-only program, but parent or guardian sign in and out is required.

Registration

Pre-registration is required, but you only need to register once for the entire program year. After registering, our Teen Coordinator will contact participants each month to confirm attendance.

About

Martin County Parks and Recreation offers a VolunTEENs program for middle school and high school students 13 to 17 years of age, including during the summer months. VolunTEENs assist in summer camps organized by Martin County Parks and Recreation. All volunTEENs must be CPR/First Aid certified and level 2 background screened, and we can help with that. Summer Camp VolunTEEN - Description

The Summer Camp VolunTEEN position is a voluntary ‘on-the-job’ training position for teenagers ages 13-17. The position requires VolunTEENs to assist Camp Counselors and Camp Leaders with the Martin County Parks and Recreation Department’s Summer Day Camp.

Duties

  1. To assist Counselors in each of the camp’s age groups on a rotating basis.
  2. To gather equipment and put away after each activity.
  3. To help check the play area for safety conditions. If there are any safety factors such as broken glass, ants, etc, the VolunTEEN must notify the Counselor immediately.
  4. To prepare arts and crafts supplies before class takes place.
  5. To clean the arts and crafts area after the group has completed the project. (Note: Children are responsible for cleaning up their own mess but, VolunTEEN’s need to clean whatever was not done correctly and put away supplies.)
  6. To keep all storage areas neat and manageable.
  7. To assist Counselors with implementing daily activities.
  8. To plan and implement one (1) weekly sports activity for assigned group. Activity must be approved by Counselor and be something that has not been done before. Note: Must be age appropriate.
  9. To plan and implement one (1) weekly arts and crafts activity for assigned group. Activity must be approved by Counselor and be something that has not been done before. Note: Must be age appropriate.
  10. To assist Counselors with children on all field trips. This includes but is not limited to walking children to the bathroom, putting on skates, serving lunches, lining up, etc.
  11. To sweep and mop floors at the end of each day.
  12. To set up tables and chairs each morning.
  13. To tear down tables and chairs each afternoon.
  14. To perform any other duties as required by Counselors, Leaders and Full-Time Staff.

Tween/Teen Wednesdays - Summer Programming will take place at a different location EVERY WEDNESDAY. Programming will be countywide and will include a wide range of activities. Our staff members are level two background-screened by the Department of Children and Families and are trained and certified in CPR and First Aid. Join us this summer for 9 Wednesdays to explore new experiences, connect with friends, and learn more about our community in Martin County.  From creative arts to sports and thrilling adventures there is something that is sure to engage your Tweens & Teens. The program is proudly supported by the Children’s Services Council of Martin County.
