Study Purpose: The Martin County Board of County Commissioners retained the consultant, Glatting Jackson, in August 2005, to prepare land use options for Martin County that will include alternative land use visions for areas within unincorporated Martin County. Some of the alternatives will address properties located outside the Urban Services District and some alternatives will address properties located inside the Urban Services District based upon a comprehensive citizen participation process. The Martin County Board of County Commissioners invites all members of the public to participate in the Martin County Development Patterns Study.
Past Events: Stakeholders were interviewed in October 2005. The Open House was held on November 8, 2005. On November 29, 2005, the Board of County Commissioners decided to postpone all activities on the Development Patterns Study until after the first of the year. Staff was directed to come back to the County Commission with a plan to include more public participation. On February 7, 2006 the County Commission heard a proposal to increase public participation in the Study. The Board approved an updated public meeting schedule of four workshops and two Resource Advisory Panel meetings. The County Commission approved a revised contract with the consultant on March 7, 2006 that reflected the new public participation process. The Commission agenda item and the graphic that illustrates the complete study and its various components are found in the list to the right.
Study Update: Study Update: Beginning is April 2006, Martin County Staff or members of the Consulting Team have presented the Development Patterns Presentation to over 25 individual community groups. During the presentations, members of the community groups asked questions about the Study and were given the opportunity to provide comment. The Presentation and the Public Questions and Comments from the various group presentations are posted on this site in the boxes on the right.
