Our five priorities and the goals for each.

  1. Connect with our customers
    1. Provide welcoming, proactive customer service
    2. Develop and maintain a well-trained workforce that guides customers to accurate print and online information and assists them with technology
    3. Improve accessibility to our staff and our services
    4. Develop the appropriate teams and organizational culture that give staff the opportunity to contribute to the development of our organization
  2. Develop strong partnerships
    1. Develop best practices that guide us in developing and maintaining strong partnerships
    2. Market the Library as the community partner that builds a stronger community
    3. Facilitate regular, ongoing internship programs with schools, colleges and universities that offer students opportunities to share their knowledge and skills with our Library users
  3. Provide services to families
    1. Provide youth with programs and services that foster a love of reading and learning
    2. Provide families with informational, interactive classes and workshops on topics that educate and entertain
    3. Improve the Library’s physical spaces to provide a more welcoming environment for families to read, learn, and share Library resources together
  4. Facilitate lifelong learning
    1. Establish the Library as the first source for practical information on common life experiences and challenges such as parenting, education, health, financial stability, and aging
    2. Provide the support that adults and teens need to improve their reading and language skills, meet their personal goals, and fulfill their responsibilities as parents, students, citizens, and workers
    3. Provide our residents with the digital and information literacy skills needed to search, find, evaluate, use, and create information
    4. Connect our vulnerable and at-risk populations with the information and services they need to live happy, healthy lives
  5. Bring cultural value to the community
    1. Offer events and activities that promote an appreciation and understanding of the humanities and the diverse cultures in Martin County
    2. Maintain a collection that is strong in the arts and humanities and reflects the diverse cultures in Martin County
